More Priorities

Alignment Issue
A national mandate on program implementation within a limited time frame and implementation coaches were assigned. The mandate didn’t take into account existing State directives.

Alignment Adjustment
We identified where program implementation would result in duplication and realigned strategy to take the most effective components from both National and State programs. Weight of each program differed from site to site – creating greater synergy from service providers and recipients.

Alignment in Action
Duplication of data was removed, planning time reduced, resources better aligned to local need and academic results soared.

New Professionals

Alignment Issue
Merger brought staff from multiple sites together, new staff were employed, and experienced staff were retiring.

Alignment Adjustment
Career Pathways review was conducted. Roles and responsibilities redistributed with core business priorities matching staffing capabilities. Retiring staff workload was realigned to ensure transition of new responsibilities to multiple colleagues in lieu of premature promotions.

Alignment in Action
Staff at all levels achieved a greater home/school/work/life balance. Sick leave dramatically reduced. Dramatic improvement in parent – teacher relationships.

Change of Leadership

Alignment Issue
New leadership included change in philosophy, causing conflict between staff.

Alignment Adjustment
Two-year strategy developed to phase out and phase in implementation approaches based on new philosophy. Strategy included Mutual Action Plans for all staff and a community education agenda.

Alignment in Action
20% staff changes in first 12 months – new staff suitably aligned to new philosophy. 15% increase in enrolment applications. Acquisition of grants.

Multi-System Alliance

Alignment Issue
Professional growth strategy required for implementation of district wide focus.
Alignment Adjustment
Existing strategy review. Capability assessment completed. A suite of professional growth strategies was introduced, enabling a personalised approach for all staff. Diversification of student grouping introduced and aligned to capabilities. Non-essential services transitioned out.

Alignment in Action
District wide implementation achieved 3 months ahead of schedule.
